Top 4 Samsung Phones with Video Stabilization

The Samsung phones on the list below have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), and Super Steady Mode on their rear cameras. All of which are required to capture a great video on a Samsung phone.

1.) Samsung Galaxy S23 series

Samsung announced the S23 series on the 1st of February 2023 and it has three smartphones under it which include the S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra.

The best Smartphone for videography among these three devices is the S23 Ultra and that does not mean that the S23 and S23 Plus are bad.

The trio meets the above requirements. They shoot quality videos.

Samsung S23 Ultra is equipped with a 200MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide with Super Steady Mode, 10MP telephoto lens with OIS, and 10MP periscope telephoto lens with OIS. It also has EIS.

The Samsung S23 and S23 Plus also have EIS and are both equipped with the same 50MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide with Super Steady Mode, and 10MP telephoto lens with OIS.

2.) Samsung Galaxy S22 Series

The Galaxy S22 Series was announced in February of 2022 and comprise three devices which include the S22, S22 Plus, and S22 Ultra.

These three smartphones have EIS, OIS, and Super Steady Mode. They are also capable of shooting great videos that are stable and sharp.

Samsung S22 Ultra is equipped with a 108MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide with Super Steady Mode, and 10MP telephoto camera with OIS.

The S22 and S22 Plus are equipped with a 50MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide camera with Super Steady Mode, and 10MP telephoto lens with OIS.

3.) Samsung Galaxy A73 5G

Samsung A73 5G was announced in March of 2022 as the highest-end of the A series.

It is equipped with EIS and OIS but not Super Steady Mode. Regardless, it can shoot great and quality videos with a lot of details for a budget phone.

White Samsung A73 5G with video stabilization

The Galaxy A73 5G comes with 108MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide camera, 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth-sensing camera.

4.) Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Samsung A53 5G was announced on the same day as the A73 5G in March of 2022. It is the second most expensive smartphone of the series in 2022 but the most popular and most shipped.

Blue Samsung A53 5G with video stabilization

It is equipped with a 64MP main camera with OIS, 12MP ultrawide, 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP depth camera.

Like the A53 5G it is a budget phone with a lot of capabilities and one of them is in shooting quality and breathtaking videos that are sharp and packs a lot of details compared to other smartphones in the same range.

Video Stabilization in Smartphones Explained

As I mentioned in one of my previous write-ups about Samsung Phones with Optical Image Stabilization; OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) allows you to take blurry-free pictures and better video, but what I didn’t mention is EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) which allows you to record a shaky free video.

Optical image stabilization is a hardware implementation that is quite expensive and one of the reasons why you will hardly see it on mid-range and entry-level phones (though that is changing) while electronic image stabilization is a software solution.

Just because EIS is a software implementation doesn’t mean that it is cheap. It requires processing power that can be found in some mid-range phones and all high-end smartphones of today.

So, when looking to get a Galaxy phone specifically for its video stabilization feature, make sure it has both the OIS and EIS implementation. Both work hand in hand to output great pictures (uses more of OIS) and stable videos (uses more of EIS).

It becomes even better with Super Steady mode; a video stabilizer that Samsung introduced with the launch of the Galaxy S10 series. It is basically a well-implemented EIS on the ultra-wide lens.

So, if your galaxy phone has a gyro-EIS integration, there is a high probability that it also has super steady mode even though its specs sheet doesn’t mention it.

If there is super steady mode but no OIS, I think you can still get some good footage with the camera with just this feature.

Final Thought

All Samsung flagships since 2019 come with video stabilization at all levels which make recording video on them super fun and easy.

It is also great to see that 2 mid-range phones from 2020 also come with EIS and super steady mode but I still prefer their 2021 and 2022 upgrades that also come with OIS alongside the EIS.

You have more than enough options to choose from if you are looking for Samsung phones with video stabilization.
