List of Samsung Phones with Punch Hole Display

Punch-hole as regards a smartphone display is a small cut-out space that housed the selfie camera and in this write-up are Samsung phones with punch hole display. Samsung doesn’t call it a punch hole though, they call it an Infinity-O display.

The Early Days of Punch-Hole Displays

The year was 2016 and smartphone manufacturers couldn’t stand the top and bottom bezels anymore. So, they all started coming out with a lot of designs to trim down the bezels.

However, in late 2017, Apple announced the iPhone X with a huge design overhaul over its predecessor which mark the beginning of an all-screen display smartphone. Numerous Android phone manufacturers follow suit except for a few among which is Samsung mobile.

In January 2019, Huawei showcased the Nova 4 with a punch hole display at its top left corner which marked the beginning of a new smartphone display that was later adopted by many Android manufacturers.

Though in 2021, we have started seeing under-display cameras that aren’t perfect yet, I believe it is the future.

The first Samsung phones to come with a punch hole display are those on the Galaxy S10 series which include Samsung S10, Samsung S10e, Samsung S10 Plus, Samsung S10 5G, and Samsung S10 Lite.

The S10 Plus and S10 5G at the time of first writing this article in November of 2021 still has one of the bigger hole-punch cut out which housed their dual front-facing camera.

However, while the rest of the S10 lineup has its selfie camera housed in a cut-out at the top right corner, the S10 Lite was the first S series phone with the camera in the middle.

Though the Galaxy Note 10 lineup phones were the first Samsung phones to have the camera placed in the middle.

Final Thought

While the first Samsung phones with punch hole display were all flagships, it wasn’t too long before they started using the display on mid-range phones starting with the Galaxy A11, A21, A51, A71, and recently with the A21s, A52 series, and A72. This was continued in 2022 with the A53 5G and A73 5G.

Also, the punch hole has gotten smaller since the first generation that comes with the Galaxy S10 family. And as I said earlier, it will only get better with an under-display camera possibly being the future of front-facing cameras.
