List of Samsung Phones with LED Notification Light or Edge Lighting

If you are looking for Samsung phones with LED notification light, you will have to settle for the ones launched before 2019. Galaxy Phones announced from 2019 to date starting with the S10 lineup comes with edge lighting instead.

Samsung announced the S10 lineup as their first attempt at an all-screen display. Unfortunately, one of the ways they were able to achieve that was by removing the LED notification light that resides at the top left corner of their earlier devices.

That the S10 has the dedicated LED notification light removed to give space for more screen or display doesn’t mean there is no way for you to know if you have a notification or not either while your screen is On or Off.

You see, Samsung thought about it, knowing LED indicator light is a very useful feature that many of their customers use and that was why they came up with edge lighting.

Samsung Edge Lighting is a feature on the latest Samsung phones with Infinity-O / Punch-hole display or water droplet display that uses the entire edge of your smartphone display or the outer layer of the front-facing camera ring as a notification light.

Just like the traditional LED notification light, the edge lighting has different colors that mean different things. But the difference is that you have more customization options with the edge lighting. Among these customization options include the following:

  • The ability to change what each color means according to your own preference as well as style
  • Decide if you want to use the entire edge or the selfie camera ring as a notification light
  • Choose which apps can use it and also decides when you want the notification light to show (Always or when the display is Off or when the display is On).

Final Thought

While not all Samsung phones come with LED light, the newest ones launched in 2019 and after come with Edge Lighting.

Customers that find the default settings of Edge lighting boring can customize it to their taste. You can change how long it takes before it stops, the transparency, and which color shows for which notification.

There are also various great third-party apps that you can download and install to further customize the edge lighting feature for your device.
