List of Samsung Phones with Compass and Magnetic Sensor
To be able to use your Samsung phone as a compass to detect direction or to navigate, it must have a magnetometer which is also called a digital compass sensor.
A magnetometer uses a magnetic sensor/element present in it to determine and measure the strength, direction, and orientation of the magnetic field of the earth.
The compass sensor app on your device uses this information or data to then display a digital compass. Technically, a Samsung phone that has a compass sensor also has a magnetic sensor in it and vice versa.
A lot of people sometimes mistake this for a gyro sensor, but they are different. You can learn more about gyro sensor from my previous post that listed the Samsung phones that come with a gyroscope.
Almost all their mid-range phones and flagships come with a compass or magnetic sensor. Some entry-level phones do too. However, below are the ones you can get today.

Is there a Compass on my Samsung Phone?
One way to tell if your Samsung phone has a compass or magnetic sensor is to download a compass app from the play store and try to use it. If it works, then your phone has the sensors and if it doesn’t, your phone doesn’t have them.
Alternatively, you can download a sensor app from the play store and launch it. It will list all the sensors that come with your device.
Most entry-level phones from Samsung such as the Galaxy A10, A11, M02, M02s, A02, and A02s don’t have a magnetometer which in turn means they don’t have a compass and magnetic sensor and cannot be used as a digital compass.
Final Thought
The magnetometer is listed differently on various Samsung phones. It is called a magnetic field sensor in some, a compass sensor in others, and a geomagnetic sensor in some of their latest flagships.
What they all do is determine the magnetic field of the earth which then allows your smartphone to determine where is North and hence can be used as a compass or navigation medium.
Like I said earlier, most Samsung phones come with a magnetic compass sensor except the lowest end of their entry-level phones.
What I mean by series in the list above is; all variants of the device. For example, the Samsung S21 series mean Samsung S21, S21 Plus, S21 FE, and S21 Ultra. I hope you find this write-up helpful.
